Woman of the Wood

I'm keeping this post simple.
This was a trial and error project.  Illustrator inks on wood, sharpie marker for the black lines and varnish to make it smooth and shiny.  When I finished inking and marking it, I went to put the varnish on and it smeared my inks, I had to do some fixing here and there, but I think it turned out okay. I will go about it a bit differently next time.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday!!

  1. Oh, I am smiling--wonderful!!
    :)
P.S. This happened to me too (ink running). The next time I sprayed a fixative on it first and then varnished it and it worked out well!

  5. Very nice! Fantastic colors and imagery, I like it.

And thanks again for pointing me toward Vladimir Kush! I have no idea how I'd never heard of him before (stupid art history classes), but with one glance he's instantly among my favorites.

  6. I love her! Just beautiful and thought provoking. So ink smearing in common when mixing mediums?

Off the topic but I was wondering how you are doing out there with the bad storms that are rolling through. Just want you to know I have been thinking of you and your family and hope you all are safe.

  11. Diane, thanks. I looked at your artwork today, it's truly lovely to behold.

Thank you Tara, you're a sweetie. I tried to hide the mistakes, but I don't mind a few flaws. I'm human.

Giggles, thank you for popping by, glad you think so.

Pixie, thanks, I have a love for trees and feel connected to them.

Nate, I'm glad you like it. The grey background with the colorful leaves against it, make me happy. I'm glad you enjoyed Kush, he's pretty awesome.

Rasz, yep, I completely understood when you having that issue. I've since learned that spraying fixative on it before applying the varnish helps. Haven't tried it out again though. And yes, we are all doing well. We haven't had quite the stormyness that other areas have had. We've had some pretty good ones though. Thanks for thinking of us. Much appreciated!

Thanks David, I am following you too. :)

Gregg, I understand. I love words, but I'm not a writer. Drawing and painting are my words.

Noemi, thank you, it can be mesmerizing. I think the colors turned out pretty good. It was definitely a process.

Thank you Reece, I appreciate the compliment. I will definitely be popping by to see what you're up to.
