Birthdays, Visits and a Zombie Apocalypse!

Today is my youngest son's birthday!  He is turning 4, I mean 16.  Wow!

This is him on Halloween.  I love having boys, they definitely have been entertaining and I've learned a lot from them.  He still loves legos and Star Wars and Zombies, of course.  Right now, my oldest son is adding bloody handprints to the upstairs walls and signs like, Beware The Undead and home made police tape across door ways.  Zombies will soon be invading.
Last year, he had a zombies and mustaches party...
I'm seeing a re-occuring theme.  :)

This is my daughter and tomorrow, she and her husband are coming for a visit.
I am so, so excited.  They are staying for two weeks!  We have so many fun adventures planned for while they're here.  I haven't seen her since September and I miss her terribly.

Our adventure days, before she was married.

This is one of my favorite pics of Zara and her husband Colton.  This was before they got married, but shows their super love!

As you may or may not know, my daughter and her husband have a band and this is one of the first video's that was made for them.  This song, Brighten, was on their first album, Whimsical Dreams.  If you'd like to check out other songs by them, you can do so at I Tunes, under Colton and Zara.
Anywho, a little bit of parent pride...sorry!  :D
So happy for this week and the many fun adventures to be had!
Hope you are all well and life is treating you with kindness!
I better run, I hear zombies!

Sketch, Watercolor and Mixed Media

I have been playing a bit this week.  Trying various new things.  Sketching is not so new, but drawing realistic animals is.  I want to stretch my skills and see what I'm made of.  haha!  So to speak!
I also found a speed paint video of watercolor and thought it looked fun, so I tried that out as well.  I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did.  Pencils are nice, because you have a bit more control, which I'm thinking is my problem.  Trying to control what  I'm doing too much.  I need to let go.  Watercolor is a little more free.  I enjoyed the smattering of it.  Or perhaps that isn't the right word...smathering  maybe?? :D  Well, according to Google, that word doesn't even exist.  Try watercolor and you will know what I mean.
And lastly, trying the mixed media again.  I'm not done with this, it is still needing something, I just haven't discovered what.
Once again, I am getting far beyond myself, I still have so many unfinished drawings, longing to be complete.  Oh, where does the time go?

Hope you are all splendidly well and having an exceptional week.  :)

A Good Week!

This has been a really good week.  It's nice when things begin to fall into place and you realize that timing is everything.  It's a blessing!  My oldest son got a job that he is pretty excited about.
Terri and I are going to be working for a boutique that has some super cute clothes, we already did a photo shoot to help promote the store.
My next son is volunteering at a really cool place and it will eventually become a job for him.  Now I just need to help my next son find his niche'.  Always a tough thing to do.  I'm still feeling like I'm not quite sure what my niche' is.  So, I am just sketching random things and painting when I get a minute.
Tonight I was drawing in my black paper sketchbook.  Here are some pictures of what I drew.  I apologize, the quality is very poor, I used my phone  ( I was too lazy to walk to the other room and get my camera)  Also, I will add a photo of Terri, wearing a very groovy outfit from the boutique.
Hope you all had a good week as well.  Peace and Blessings to you!!

It's A Cupcake Sort of Day!!

A day of Love!
Everyday should be filled with love, after all, isn't that what we are here for?
Today, I will make cupcakes to share the love...and a few calories.

Here are a few photos I took this past week!

For The Birds

Recently, I have been working on a new series of pictures and trying out some different techniques with my watercolor pencils...nothing too extreme, but just a little different from my other pictures.
This series of pictures is girls and their birds.  These are the first 3 that I've completed and I have 3 more that are in progress.  I would love to hear what you think.  Feedback is always nice.  :)  As always, thank you for popping by.

Hope everyone is doing well and having a splendid week.  Cheers!!

The Sketchbook Project

I found this project on another blog and checked it out.  You can go to the link here and see for yourself what it is all about.
I had to have my sketchbook completed and mailed out by Jan. 31, 2012, to the Brooklyn Art Library, where people can come in and check it out.  They can also see it online, as well as everyone else's, who submitted one.
The theme I chose (they give you a list of choices) was "In Ten Minutes".  I'd had many ideas for it, but when I received the book, I didn't get to it right away and then had to fill it out, sort of last minute.  So, the pictures are all very random and had more to do with what I was thinking about at the moment.
Here is my sketchbook.  I would encourage you to check out the link and peruse the many, many amazing artists out there.
Thanks for popping by, hope your day is simply grand!!
