Pictures!

I am very excited to say, I got a new camera for Christmas.  I have been having picture taking withdrawal.  Not that I'm much of a photographer, but I do love having a camera handy when I'm out and about, in case I see something eye catching.
Today, I went to the park to play with my new toy.  Didn't get much yet, because I need to get a better memory card, but here are a few pics I took.

The last one is a drawing I was working on and forgot about.  Now I need to figure out the memory thing on my camera!  Oh technology...I love you and then again, you frustrate me!
Happy and Glorious day to you!!

Silent Sundays: Traditions!! Traditions!!

I am happy to see that I am not the only one with UFO's all over my house.
Several people commented about their UFO's and I am in glad company! :)
Now, I would love to hear what Holiday Traditions you all have and I will share a few of ours.  I believe traditions are important.  They kind of tell a story, of who we are and where we've come from.
"Traditions, traditions. Without our traditions, our lives would be as shaky as... as... as a fiddler on the roof!"

Ornaments:  Every year, each of us gets a new ornament, when we decorate the tree, we read through our list and each of us takes turns putting each years ornament on the tree.  Needless to say, our tree is very eclectic.  I love it!!
No tree is complete without Chewbaca.

Ahh...the year of the Sock Monkey!

Homemade Gifts:  I love hand making gifts.  I always try to make some gifts to give.  This year I am working on a fun little gift for my daughter, I will give you a small glimpse, once I am closer to getting it together...I'd better hurry.  YIKES!!

Christmas Lights:  We pick an evening and drive all around town, looking at all of the lights, while listening to Christmas music, then come home and have hot cocoa.

Cookies:  My mom has the most amazing recipe for cookies, every year we'd go to her house and make dozens of cookies and decorate them too, this year (since we moved) we are on our own, but we will keep up the tradition.
These, we did with my mom, see how nice they are.
Our cookies this year...not quite so professional looking.

But yummy, anyway!
Movies:  Of course, we always have our favorite movies that we watch during the season.  Charlie Brown Christmas, The Christmas Story, Elf, Muppet's Christmas Carol, The Grinch, Santa Claus Is Coming to Town, Home Alone...and many more. We always watch It's A Wonderful Life, on Christmas Eve...we usually fall asleep too.  I don't know the last time I made it through the entire movie.

Christmas Morning:  Wake up at 3 a.m.  My husband is usually the first one up, he is so excited, like a little kid.  He makes coffee, turns on Christmas music, tries to make as much noise as possible, hoping everyone will hear him and get up. haha!
This was 3 years ago.  Last Christmas photo of all of us together , before my daughter got married.

This our current Christmas family photo, with our future daughter-in-law.

So, what are your traditions??
I leave you with a couple of lines from Fiddler on the Roof!
Perchik: "Money is the world's curse."
Tevye: "May the Lord smite me with it. And may I never recover."

Bob Ross and Happy Little Trees!

The other day my son and I decided to watch a few Bob Ross videos on youtube.  I have to admit, I loved to watch him on PBS, when I was young.  He was always so happy and truly he was a pretty fantastic painter.  So, after watching the video, I busted out my paints and did a couple of my own happy little paintings.
This was my first one.  I was mumbling to myself about happy trees, the whole time I was painting, it was marvelous!  I kind of think it needs a spaceship in there somewhere...

This is actually a portion of a neighbor's house, I was glancing out the window while I was painting it.  Again, a space craft of some sort, seems rather fitting.  Too many X-Files, perhaps?

Happy Painting!!  :)

Silent Sundays: UFO's All Over My House!

Or...when too many hobbies have run amok.
If you are a crafty person (and I don't mean, you go about casting spells) then you are probably familiar with the term UFO, not being related to little green men.  In the creative realm, UFO's are Un Finished Objects.  I suspect it has become popular, because like me and many others, we tend to start more projects than we complete.  I have found this week many UFO's lying about my house, taking up space or mostly taunting me.  I thought I'd share a few with you...these are those that I do intend to finish.  There are others lurking about that have not yet realized, their days are numbered.
I've sewn the binding on, now I just need to stitch it.  What am I waiting for?

Finished this sweater last Spring, all except the collar...
Collars can be so tedious, I tend to put them off.
I have another sweater with an unfinished collar...I actually wear that one.
(procrastination...perhaps)

I made this for myself, as a birthday gift...2 1/2 years ago. I just had it quilted and put the binding on, which I've almost finished (3 months ago)...it is on my bed though.

This is more recent, I'm still trying to figure out what else this picture needs.

This poor yarn has yet to fully decide what it wants to be, this is the third sweater I've begun with this yarn...sheesh!!

Hooray, proof that I do actually finish some things.  I did this yesterday and I'm excited about it because our bedroom typically doesn't get much decorator attention.

And this has nothing to do with this post, I just thought it was funny!

Have a jolly good day!

X-Files and Art

This is what I've been up to recently.  I used to love watching this show and then I saw an episode that thoroughly creeped me out and I quit watching it...that was 14 years ago.  With Netflix and streaming, I am now able to go back and start at the beginning, which is exactly what I've done and quite honestly, I'm hooked.  The good news is, that while I'm watching the show I am inspired to draw, so I am actually achieving something, other than just sitting there like a lump.  I thought I would share a couple of drawings that I've done while watching the show.  At the moment, I am still in search of my groove, my niche', my own style and somehow, watching this show spurs my creativity.  I have a couple of other pictures I am working on, but they're not quite done yet.  I guess I need to watch a few more episodes to get them finished.  :)

Have a truly splendid day!!

Silent Sundays: Creature Feature

I love rabbits.  They are so cute and sweet.  I had a wonderful bunny named Twidget that I adored.  I used to sit with him on my lap under the giant cedar tree.  He inspired me to draw.

I drew this picture of Twidget and I, in my nature journal, (looking much younger than I do in real life).  :)

Peas and Carrots

Little Red

I started drawing this little series of bunnies a few years ago.
My first one is in my Nature Journal and that led to these.
My son and I and Mr. Twidget, of course and our kitty, Tickles.

This was one of my more recent rabbit pictures.
 Mr. Clock's Tea Time.

I am hoping to draw & paint more rabbits soon.
They are so very sweet.    I would love to get a house bunny, one that
maybe wouldn't mind being a model once in awhile.  :)

Have a lovely day!
