If you read my last post, you probably saw that I'm feeling rather uninspired lately. Every time I want to draw/paint, I feel as if I am trying way too hard to be creative and so I'm not coming up with much.
A good blog friend of mine, Robin at raszart
posted about this free online workshop to help open up your creative side.
"In Total Alignment we will address five common blockages that keep Artists feeling stuck, uninspired, and out of alignment with creative source:
1. Heaviness Around The Heart Center
2. A Struggle With Inner Balance
3. Loss Of Energy
4. Suppression of Full Self Expression
5. Lack of Stillness and Feeling Grounded"
The first workshop video talks about
Opening The Heart Center
and painting fearlessly.
Which means to paint without judgment, straight from the heart, not your head.
This is the result of fearless painting. I'm not totally in love with it, but that's okay, because that's not what it is about.
If you are feeling less than creative and need a boost, I recommend
checking this out. She has a wonderful soothing way about her and I very much enjoyed her video and painting freely, without feeling like I need to do it for some purpose. I didn't realize how much time I spend worrying about how it's going to come out and judging myself. Breathe deeply, enjoy the process.
Thank you, Robin so much for introducing this to all of us.
It is a wonderful experience. :)
I think your choice of colors are wonderful. Whatever funk you were in seems to be slipping away. I enjoy all your creative works but I really like this one.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fabulous workshop! Glad to see that you're embracing *letting go* with your art :) This piece is stunning...you have such an amazing sense of creativity & thinking outside of the box!

ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by Heather, I hear ya! Things have been pretty hectic around here too. Lots of bloggable moments in life but not much time to post. ~Have a lovely day! =)
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Isn't it a wonderful experience? Now I am painting and not posting, haha! Yep, I need to go back to the Balance Invitation.
ReplyDeleteI love your painting, so soft, so expressive, so warm. I am so happy you like Total Alignment. Best thing I ever did!
BTW, I LOVE your cute new profile pic Heather...Autumn is coming!
Thank you Jean, I have to say, this really helped and I enjoyed the process. I like the picture too. I didn't know if I would because it's so different from what I usually do.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanna, I definitely need to be free from my mind wanting to control everything I am creating. It is a really cool workshop.
Carla, I definitely understand that. I always enjoy your blog, it's so beautiful and soothing.
Robin, thanks so much for sending me that way. I checked it out when you first mentioned it, but was still in the moving mode, I'm so glad I went back and checked it out again. Very awesome. She is such a groovy chick too. I love how expressive she is when she's talking.
Thanks, haha, that was from Halloween a couple of years ago, I dressed as a cat. And yes, Fall is in the air, thank goodness. :)
Oh wow! That is awesome - your painting and the class! I love the freedom, color and movement you have here and I love that heart flying free! Thank you for talking about the class too - I am gonna check it out!! AND I love your new profile picture ;) xoxo
ReplyDeleteNice work Heather. For some reason I rarely have trouble with inspiration...coming up with ideas...but where I usually get bogged down is in the execution. I know what I want to do, but getting it down on paper can be so darned exhausting! Any tips for that?
ReplyDeleteBotanist, I seem to struggle with the ideas, but once I have them, putting them on paper doesn't seem to be an issue. Do you see in your mind what you want to do? If so, I'd start with that. It also helps if you know what type of medium you'd like to use for the particular project. Lately, I just begin and see how it goes. I have a picture I did recently and didn't like it at all, so I went over it and then used it to paint another picture. I may post it soon, I like the way it came out. I don't know if that helps...
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful! And thank you fornsharng this... Somethng that i can check out. Im not an artist or a poet but, i love the arts...
