Falling In Love With Art: Part 1

This is the first post in this series, which will go through Fall, on every Monday.  It was hard to pick the first artists to highlight, I adore so many.  I plan to highlight two artists per week, one fellow artist (meaning I know them, they're bloggers or friends who are also amazing artists) and one artist whom I've admired through the years, (who is most likely no longer among the living).
This week I have chosen to highlight a good friend of mine, who is an amazing photographer and who is very quickly making a name for herself.  I was fortunate to meet her just a few months before moving away and I'm so glad I had the chance to get to know her.  She is a wonderful photographer, who has an exceptional eye for beauty and capturing the art of living.  She doesn't have a blog, but she does have a facebook page for her photography.  You can find it here.
Sarah Heins Photography:  Nature, Pets, People, Skies, and various others.

I love this, so gorgeous.

My son and his girlfriend, some of the best "couple" pictures I've seen.

Fortunately for us, she was willing to accommodate our idea of a family photo.

I love this one!

My boys, one of my favorite family pictures.

I decided to go back in time with Pieter Bruegel the Elder, (born in 1525-9, died in 1569).  I've always admired his unique perspective and his willingness to mingle with the peasants.  He would dress like them, so he could attend their celebrations and get a better idea of how to paint them.  He paid close attention to detail and he tried to keep the stories more relatable for the viewer, painting the settings to look like the time he was living in.  He was a master at landscapes as well as depicting proverbs and Bible stories.  A couple of my favorite pieces are Icarus and The Blind Leading the Blind.

The Blind Leading the Blind

Children's Games (wow, so much detail)

Netherlandish Proverbs, depicting over 100 proverbs

The Tower of Babel

I hope you enjoy your week.  Happy Fall!

  1. Love the field of fluffed out flowers. That one is my favorite.

  2. Difficult to pick a favourite from the photos. Probably the sunlit clouds reflected in the lake.

And I love Bruegel. Some of his crowd scenes are kinda similar in spirit to Lowry, but he can also get so up-close-and-personal too. Good choice!

  5. Okay, now my family album won't be complete until I have a photo of my son in the mouth of a hippopotamus. I hope you're happy. Anyway, wish me luck; we're off to the zoo. (If I'm really lucky, maybe I'll also get a shot of two chained monkeys in a window.)

  6. Denise, I am glad you enjoyed it, my goal has been achieved! :)

Julie, me too! I've always loved wish weeds, they're magical.

Thanks Botanist, I agree. He definitely had a different way of looking at things, especially for that time period. He was bustin out of the box, I love people who aren't afraid.

Winter scenes are very pretty, I have to agree, I prefer winter when I'm inside sipping hot cocoa and reading, knitting or drawing and watching the snow flakes meander.

Thanks Tara, I'm glad it has been a source of inspiration. That is always a good thing.

Nate, haha, you are funny and of course, I have raised the bar. Now you will have to go for the more obscure family photos. Good luck at the zoo, watch out for the hippos.
