An Illustrated Life

Over the years, I have considered keeping a journal and when I tried to, didn't keep up with it.  What can I say, I bored myself to death.  I'm not a writer.  And although, I've had many great life experiences, putting them into words isn't something I do very well.
A friend gave me a journal a few years back and after a very brief attempt at writing my daily stuff, I decided that I was only interested in doodling and looking at it, if there were pictures involved.  I began creating a journal that was filled with my life in an illustrated form.  I chose various moments that caught my attention and put them into pictures.  Usually two or three per month.
Today, I ran across these journals and glanced back through them and thought I'd share them with you....and maybe get back to writing/drawing in them again.  I used to take them with me and if I had a moment, I would draw, look up quotes and capture the whimsical and magical times.  I know I've posted a few pics from it in the past, but I thought I'd add a few more...or several more.  :)

Have a beautiful and blessed day!

Recipe, Sunset and A Funny.

In my last post, I showed a pic of a yummy dinner I made.  I thought I'd share the recipe for that, for anyone interested in giving it a whirl.  I found the recipe on Allrecipes, but I did alter it a bit, because of my dislike for funky textures.  Instead of spinach, pesto and tomatoes, I used feta that was herb and sun dried tomato feta, I used a mediterranean spice mixture and garlic powder instead of crushed garlic.  It was really yummy, next time though, I may add a smidge of spiced up tomato sauce.  You can see a pic of mine, in my last post.  :)

I took a walk up the hill a couple of nights ago and this is what I saw.  I shot this with my phone and it turned out much better than I'd expected it would.

I went home got my camera and car and zoomed back up the hill to take more pics.  These are a few of them.  It was such a gorgeous eve.

Oooooh, an afterthought, I am adding a few of my altered pics,
for the poots and wiggles of it, since I don't have any new art work to
share yet.  I've been extra busy.  BAH!!
Enjoy!
p.s.  I hope I haven't posted any pics I've posted before, but if I have...my apologies!

I got this in an email, I don't know who to give credit to, but I thought it was funny!  hehe!!

Have a happy and groovy day!!

Life, As We Know It

A bit of my life and daily adventures, through pictures and sketches.
What have you been up to?

This is a new picture I have added to my Etsy shop.
The Flower Girl

I went for a walk to the cemetery, this is a cool gate.  I just finished reading The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman, good and interesting story.

storm clouds

I call these Alice Trees, I don't actually know what they are, but I do believe they are magical.

Our wee little garden and the lovely fence, the boys built it using scraps of wood they found in the garage.  I love recycling.  :)

An amazing meal I made the other night.  I have been trying to experiment with new foods.  I am super picky, so it's not always easy.  I am seriously thinking I need to write a blog called, The Picky Eater's Guide To Yummy.  I've been coming across some really great recipes.  These are chicken puff pastries....oh my!!

More clouds, I can't resist.

and more....do you blame me??

clouds and mountains...

last one of clouds, I think...

Been sketching a lot lately...trying out different things.

Have a groovy weekend everybody!!  Hope the weather is glorious where ever you are and you can go for a spin on your bicycle.  :)

A Magical Trade!

In March, Cameron from Paint Myself Pretty blog, and I decided to do an art trade.  Check out her blog, her art is so fun and whimsical and she's not afraid to try everything!!
Yay, this is the second one I've participated in, and it is so much fun to see and get to know the creative side of fellow artists/bloggers.
We had hoped to complete the trade by the end of March, but it ended being last week, mostly because of busyness in my days.
We created original pieces of art for each other and it's so amazing to see her work in person.  She puts so much into it.  I'm super excited with what I received from her.
Hooray!!!
This is the fantastic piece she created for me, it is so magical and I can't wait to hang it up.  Look at all those amazing details.  Actual gold in the hair too.

If you've ever done a trade, you will notice that artists love to send other little
goodies, along with the actual art piece.  It is so exciting to open the package and find a bundle of goodness, it's like an unbirthday gift.  :)

Look at these delicious bits of goodness.  Scraps of old fashioned pics, which I am so loving, cute little envelopes, which I've no doubt, she crafted, her own little artist calling cards, which are absolutely amazing!!!

It is a plethora of goodness and I'm so looking forward to working on some new projects and trying more collage type art.  So inspiring!!

Her sweet little painting of a sleeping cat, on a card that she wrote in.  I love this, it's so sweet!
If you haven't yet had the opportunity to make an art trade, I encourage you to do so.  It is so fun and such a great way to get to know fellow artists, even better.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Cameron.  <3
P.S. If you are interested in doing a trade, let me know!  :)
