I am taking the free online mixed media course through Strathmore Online Workshops. I signed up for it last year, then never got around to it. This year, I thought I would go for it. It's a bit more of a challenge...loose lines, well mostly
that is the challenge. These are my first attempts at it. I need to keep working at it, trying to loosen up and try new things.
I don't seem to be very cooperative.

How do you deal with attempting new styles/mediums?
And....do you name your pictures random things?
I've recently noticed that I name pictures based on what immediately comes to
mind after I finish a picture.

They are both beautiful Heather. I signed up too, but not sure I will do it. I will watch all the videos though, perhaps I'll get hooked. Good luck to you, you've had a great start.

Heather, well done! I love them both! For me, the name just comes. And, if I don't have a name right away, I put the painting away, until it wants to be named. I know, sounds weird, right? LOL! I feel my painting has become even more free this year!!

ReplyDeleteI am gearing up for a blog post! I promise. Life takes me away to other places. I think I used to be so good at it because I had a tiny one nursing in my arms all the time. Now, nearly four, and two nearly teens, life has changed and I just don't sit at the computer anymore. (this is a good thing I think!!!)
So glad you're making so much art and wonderful pics. I believe you're mother of a lifetime! Such an inspiration!
Awesome paintings. I think you are doing great! I name my creations the same way, and some have some strange names :) I've signed up for the Strathmore class but haven't started yet. I've taken the last two years and they are great. I'm sewing the fabric I am painting right now. As for how I get started working with a new medium...hmmm...I guess I don't read the instructions and jump right in while getting my hands into it and making a mess, haha!
