Where I've Been!

I've missed two Silent Sundays and a week of Color.  My apologies for vanishing without a trace.  My trip happened quite suddenly and went a bit longer than I'd planned.  I had only my android, which seems to consistently die, so little internet time. I spent 74 hours in a vehicle over the past 10 days, first it was 30 straight hours, then 24 hours, then 20 hours.  Not really my idea of a good time, but in between the butt numbing hours, I did do some adventurous things and spent time with some truly awesome people.  Family I haven't seen in quite some time and people I've only just met.  Life is good!
A quick slide show of my trip, because I know you are ever so anxious to see what I've been up to.  :)  Thanks for humoring me!
On the way to where we are moving.  Gorgeous!

Best part of the trip, time with my hubby!

My new pal, Bruiser.

The adventure, I have a fear of driving on roads with edges that drop off, I road in the back of the truck all the way up this mountain.  Facing my fears!  :l

A view down the mountain, beautiful and very high!

Riding horses, I love horses and haven't been on one in over 20 years, it was an experience and I was very sore the next few days.  Loved every minute of it.

Me and my twisted sister, I always enjoy her company, haven't seen her in a year.

The last picture I took on this trip.  I wasn't fast enough to capture the Elk .

Have a tremendously groovy week, despite the intense heat!

Chocolate, Bunchy Sweaters, Fall...Brown

I have really been enjoying this Summer of Color hosted by Kristen.  She has done a wonderful job pulling this together.  If you have a minute, you should visit her blog and see how amazing it is.  If you'd like to join in the fun, it's not too late.  This week's color is Brown.  I love the color brown, it makes me think of Fall, chocolate, textured bunchy sweaters, breezy cool days with leaves all around.  For this color, I did a couple of pictures.
The first picture makes me think of my husband.  My hero, youthful, always looking out for others, funny, smart, a man of many talents.  So, I made it with him in mind.
The background is inks, the rest is watercolor pencils, I added water to the trees for the painty effect.

For this next picture, I was thinking of Fall and how much I'd love for it to be Fall already.  It has been a hot, miserable and exceptionally buggy summer and I'm ready for a new season, where I can go outside.  This is somewhat of a self-portrait, because when I thought of brown, this is where I saw myself.  A big, thick, textured sweater, cool, crisp breeze, leaves floating and dancing in the air, the smell of pumpkin pie....

Have a lovely and hopefully, not too hot week!
All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey.....
By the way, if you are interested, things are happening over at A Pen For A Dream.

Silent Sundays!

My son hooking up the XBox, it looked like he was hiding, I couldn't resist.
I've decided that on Sundays I will just post photos.  No long wordyness.  Possibly just a caption under the photo itself.  Most of the pictures I take are from my walks.
Last night's sunset

Standing in a cornfield

I always love the way the sun looks coming through the trees
I am just using my phone camera, so I apologize for the lack of awesome quality.  I hope you're having a lovely weekend.   Enjoy!

Yellow

This week's Summer of Color is Yellow! I was excited to try a collage, something I've never done before.  I used bottle caps for the flower's centers, music sheets for her wings, and printed paper for the dress. I'm not really happy with the way it turned out; I didn't spend nearly as much time on it as I should have. But, because the week is already getting so late, I felt like I just needed to get it posted! I may go back and redo parts of it and add more to it.

I had planned to use bottle caps already and then saw that we were supposed to add something metallic, as a bonus.  So it worked out really well.
(piano keys falling from her fingers)
This piece actually has meaning to it.  It's reminiscent of my daughter Zara, when she was young.  Very free spirited, always wanting to fly, she was and is a musician and she learned to play piano on our very old piano, the music on her wings is from Lord of The Rings (Many Meetings) which she used to play, she loves sunflowers and has a very sunny disposition and she is standing in a field of dandelions (which she calls wish weeds), surrounded by happy fireflies.  She is the epitome of yellow and  sunshine and spreading warmth and love everywhere she goes.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a groovy, colorful week!
